Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve 2011

Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve 750ml 2011
Sku: 15385

The Trimbachs have a purist vision. Across 12 generations, the family has always produced wines that are structured, long-lived, fruity, elegant and balanced: the celebrated Trimbach style.

Tasting notes
Color - Bright, pale gold Bouquet - Juicy peaches and ripe pear Taste - Full-bodied with ripe smoky tropical fruit flavors and a long nutty finish.

 Vinous 88 points (Nov 2012)
Bright straw. Precise aromas of fresh apple and pear, even strawberry, on the enticing nose. Then lively and clean in the mouth, with a smooth texture and deep flavors of pear and apple compote. Lovely entry-level pinot gris, persistent and very food-flexible. From 90% bought grapes from all over the Haut-Rhin, with a good amount from Rouffach, Westhalten, Soultzmatt and Pfaffenheim.
Wine Advocate 89 points (Aug 2014)
The Trimbach’s 2011 Pinot Gris Reserve displays a typically subtle integration of noble fungus and smoked meat into scents - and then a juicy, subtly oily matrix - of ripe peach. Piquant nutty and peach kernel elements are integrated with similar discretion in a lingering finish. This ought to as usual serve as an excellent, versatile estate calling-card in the U.S. market, where it has only just appeared in early 2014. Expect its high performance to continue through at least 2020 (the 2007 is drinking beautifully in mind-2014).

Wine maker notes
The grapes are selected by Pierre and Jean Trimbach from the Trimbachs’ own vineyards and from growers with whom the family has long term relationships, and usually picked during the first week of October. The Pinot Gris is vinified to complete dryness and is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. The wine is not oak-aged, as the Trimbachs believe that wood adds nothing to their wines, the salient characteristics of which are extreme purity and concentrated fruit.

Technical notes
100% Pinot Gris

Food pairing
Served well chilled, a good choice for appetizers, fish and shellfish, poultry and other white meats, and many lighter pastas. It also makes a great aperitif.
