Gaja Langhe Conteisa 2004

Gaja Langhe Conteisa 750ml 2004
Sku: 19078

The Nebbiolo in Conteisa reflects the essence of the Cerequio terroir: sumptuous texture and a very refined character with perfectly integrated tannins.

Wine Enthusiast 95 points (Apr 2009)
Gaja’s answer to Barolo, Conteisa means "contested” in Piedmontese and refers to the historic feud between the towns of Barolo and La Morra for the shared Cerequio cru. This gorgeous wine is thick and dark with beautiful concentration and sophisticated notes of dark fruit, mineral and exotic spice. The wine is smooth and solid with firm tannins and structure. It will age for 20-plus years. - M.L. (4/1/2009) - 95
Wine Advocate 94 points (Dec 2007)
The 2004 Langhe Conteisa, from vineyards in La Morra, is especially dark-toned and rich in this vintage. Made in an uncharacteristically weighty, opulent style for this wine, it reveals plenty of ripe dark fruit, spices, new leather, licorice and tar. With air it gradually turns more feminine and delicate, yet it remains a gorgeous, sumptuous wine of outstanding pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022.
