Domaine Joblot Givry Clos de la Servoisine
Wine Advocate 88 points (Jun 2010)
Joblot’s 2008 Givry Clos De La Servoisine is vibrantly juicy and loaded with red currant and cherry with the impression of their seed and pits lending invigoration and counterpoint. Peppery pungency adds to its sense of invigoration. This is a bit brittle in feel and practically shrill in its fresh fruit acidity, but it had only been in bottle for 3 weeks when I tasted and was probably still stressed from that experience. And while this may remain relatively lean after both short- and longer-term bottle aging, it is the longest and most penetrating of the Joblot 2008s and promises to be worth following for close to a decade.
Wine maker notes
Situated just above the village, is where the premier cru vineyard of Clos de la Servoisine can be found. The wine made here is richly textured with profound color, fruit and length. It is surely as good and long lived as many wines at double the price from more pedigreed locations in the Cote d’Or. Our Givry 1er Cru is fermented and aged in barrel for up to 16 months.
