Wine Advocate 88 points (Feb 2013)
The 2011 Falanghina Sannio is a pretty aperitif-styled Campanian white laced with peaches, pears and flowers. This soft, perfumed white is best appreciated over the next year or so. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2014.
The historic Falanghina grape, which was first recorded almost two hundred years ago, in 1825, nowadays finds its epitome in the vineyards of the province of Benevento. The origin of the name is the latin word ‘phalange’, meaning ‘supported by stakes’. A selected vinification preserves its unique characteristics.
A very well-balanced and versatile wine with a complex and individual character. At its best as an aperitif or with fish and seafood.
