Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2011

Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 750ml 2011
Sku: 23968

The Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova came about thanks to the desire to produce a Brunello of great character. We began by searching for land which we believe to be in the best position. The microclimate of the terrain includes the botanical species lentiscus, ilatro, thyme, fillera, marruca, and a type of juniper which demonstrate the exceptional quality of the vineyards of Pietrodonice and Le Cetine. This passionate search together with highly scientific methods in determining the clones, the grafting, the type of cultivation, the density per hectare of the vines and every other minor detail have taken place to obtain excellent Sangiovese grapes. It is aged in small oak casks for 24 to 30 months according to the vintage and then for at least a year in the bottle. The first vintage produced was in 1993. Born of vineyards with unique characteristics that produce Sangiovese grapes and give a wine of great distinction and unique structure, potency and fineness. Captivating and complex in its fragrances, profound in its width yet able to express in delightful flavours, in the style of our estate. It lends itself to a lengthy evolution through the years but also drunk young it will give great satisfaction. Ever since its first harvest in 1993 it has had constant amazing recognition from the world press.

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is dark, sensual and inviting, with lovely textural depth and fine balance. Macerated dark cherry, plum, smoke, lavender and spice flesh out in a succulent, expressive Brunello that should drink well with minimal cellaring.
Wine Advocate 95 points (Mar 2016)
This is another fabulous wine from Giacomo Neri. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is a deeply layered expression with bold tones of dark fruit that are softened and enhanced by spice, leather, tobacco and balsam herb. The wine is very beautiful and polished with slightly less depth and complexity compared the outstanding (100 point) vintage that precedes it. Despite the vintage variation, this is a wine of enormous pedigree and importance. It is generous and confident with a presentation that offers purity, intensity and persistence.

A red with earthy, meaty, salty, ripe fruit aromas and flavors. Full body with round, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. So much richness and depth. Needs at least a year or two to come together.
 Wine Spectator 91 points (Jun 15 2016)
Lively, laced with cherry, raspberry, licorice and mineral flavors. The fine harmony allows this to linger on the aftertaste. Should develop well. Best from 2018 through 2029. 4,100 cases made. -BS
