Wine Advocate 91 points (Jun 2010) Dark cherries, smoke, licorice and earthiness are some of the nuances that emerge from 2006 Campoleone, a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that spent 12 months in French oak. This is a decidedly dark, brooding red from Lamborghini. As good as it is, I can’t help feeling that the wine is trapped by excessive concentration and new oak. With a lighter touch this could be a truly important, benchmark wine for Umbria. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. |
