The Emperor of Alsace wine, Pinot Gris is a favorite in export. Chardonnay is recognized in it, and indeed the grape is a cousin, grown in Alsace since the 16th century.
The wine develops an opulent character and intensely rich fullness. Lovely yellow-gold, even amber color. Structured, round, and long in the mouth, complex aromas of undergrowth evolve, sometimes delicately smoked.
Excellent with strong fish like salmon, lobster, or sushi.
