Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec Reserva 2011

Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec Reserva 375ml 2011
Sku: 1845142*

Full-bodied with a great structure, this wine stands out for its volume and silky mouth-feel. It is complex, boasting smooth, well-rounded tannins that give way to a staggeringly long and lingering finish.

Tasting notes
Colour: intense red with blue shades.
Nose: powerful and complex. Notes of red fruit can be perceived such as raspberry, red currant and sweet plum. Further hints of vanilla and caramel, stemming from its ageing in oak barrels, add a new level of complexity to this already full and exciting aroma.
Palate: a wine with a magnificent structure that offers a sensational mouth -feel and an intensely rich flavour. Its beautifully integrated tannins make it lively and strong. Its finish is smooth and perfectly harmonious.

Intense dark currant and spiced cherry flavors are supported by crisp acidity in this powerfully vibrant red. Espresso and dark chocolate notes fill the muscular finish. Drink now through 2020. 30,000 cases imported.-KM

(aged in an 80/20 blend of French and American oak, 30% new): Bright ruby-red. Sexy, musky aromas of plum, currant, tobacco leaf, chocolate and smoke, complicated by roasted fruit and floral nuances (I might have guessed cabernet sauvignon!). Plush, broad and sweet; fuller than the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, conveying an impression of thickness without excess weight. Finishes very long and seamless, with wonderfully ripe tannins and lingering sweetness of fruit.
Wine Advocate 88 points (Apr 2014)
The 2011 Terrazas Reserva Malbec was a small disappointment, because of my high expectations. Some blurry aromas of violet, damson and licorice detract from the clarity in the nose, while the palate showed much better with classy cedar box flavors, fine-grained tannins and good length. Drink now.
