Roederer Estate Brut L'Ermitage Rose 2004

Roederer Estate Brut L'Ermitage Rose 750ml 2004
Sku: 1875585*

L’Ermitage Rosé is Roederer Estate’s first-ever limited production special Tête de Cuvée Rosé. As in Champagne, L’Ermitage is made only in an exceptional year of pre-selected grapes that come from the very best lots of Roederer Estate’s own 580 acres of vineyards.

 Vinous 92 points (May 2013)
Bright orange-pink. Smoky, highly perfumed aromas of raspberry, blood orange, gingerbread and fresh rose. Juicy, focused and pure, with impressive energy and lift to its sappy red fruit and floral flavors. A zesty mineral note adds bite and extends the long, spicy, penetrating finish. This impressive bubbly could stand up to most pink versions from Champagne.
 Wine Spectator 91 points (Nov 14 2012)
A pink bubbly that’s both serious and a lot of fun. Lovely aromas of rose petal and strawberry lead to layered and succulent, but impeccably dry, flavors of cherry, citrus and cinnamon that finish on a crisp, minerally note. Drink now through 2016.—T.F.

Wine maker notes
L’Ermitage Rosé brings complexity and smoothness to a higher level. The delicate salmon color, with copper hues, enhances the tiny bubbles and long lasting mousse. Notes of currant, apple tart and caramel create a complex, yet well balanced fruit and pastry taste, which lingers with a soft, creamy, long lasting finish.

Technical notes
Roederer Estate wines are made with juice from just the cuvée (the first pressing of the grapes); no première or deuxième taille is used. The concept of the vintage L’Ermitage is the same one that is used in Champagne: only the best of the vintage is selected. These are exceptional wines that create a "noble” (special) blend, which allows for longer aging and produces a fine wine with elegance and finesse. There are four members of the blending team, including winemakers from Champagne Louis Roederer and Roederer Estate, together totaling over 130 years of experience with Roederer. The rosé blend is crafted using a small fraction of red wine, from Pinot Noir grown on the Estate, especially made for this purpose using "Burgundian” maceration technique that allows skin contact to extract color and aromas. This red wine brings delicate berry flavors and a nice color to further extend the L’Ermitage smoothness and subtleties - allowing for a unique tasting experience.
